The island is small — about 40km end to end — but transport is the thing most first-timers get wrong. Here's the lay of the land.
Ibiza airport (IBZ) sits just south of Ibiza Town — 7 minutes to Playa d'en Bossa, ~20 to San Antonio. Pre-book a transfer; the taxi rank can be brutal at peak times.
Licensed taxis are limited and vanish at closing — use the official taxi app or pre-book. The Discobus runs through the night between the resorts and the big clubs, and is cheap.
A rental unlocks the hidden beaches and inland restaurants — but never drive after the clubs. Book cars early for summer; they sell out.
Fast ferries from Ibiza Town reach Formentera's Caribbean-blue water in ~30 min — the island's best day trip. Boat parties and beach-club transfers run all season.
